Establishment and Legal Standing
The International Press, Media & Cultural Communications Office is hereby established as a permanent and authoritative body within the governance structure of The Reggae Museum.
The Office shall operate with full institutional standing across all internal, public, and international engagements and shall serve as the Museum’s sole and official authority for external communications and cultural representation.
Exclusive Authority and Scope
The Office shall exercise exclusive jurisdiction over all external communications, public statements, media relations, scholarly engagement, documentary access, and institutional representation pertaining to the Reggae Museum.
All inquiries from journalists, academic researchers, filmmakers, cultural institutions, international organizations, and intergovernmental bodies shall be directed exclusively to the Office.
No individual, affiliate, partner, or representative may issue public statements or representations on behalf of the Museum without the express authorization of the Office.
Mandate and Functions
The Office shall be responsible for:
Coordinating press and media relations across print, broadcast, digital, and academic platforms;
Facilitating access to exhibitions, archives, and research materials in accordance with institutional protocols;
Supporting scholarly research, academic exchange, and documentary production;
Managing institutional partnerships, cultural diplomacy initiatives, and international cooperation;
Ensuring accurate, ethical, and culturally respectful representation of reggae and its historical, social, and artistic contexts.
Ethical and Scholarly Standards
All communications issued or authorized by the Office shall adhere to the highest standards of:
historical accuracy and scholarly rigor;
ethical cultural representation and respect for origin communities;
protection against misrepresentation, appropriation, or distortion;
alignment with international best practices for heritage safeguarding.
Cultural Heritage Alignment
In fulfillment of its mandate, the Office shall operate in alignment with internationally recognized cultural heritage frameworks and principles, including those concerning the safeguarding, transmission, and promotion of intangible cultural heritage.
The Office shall contribute to the global recognition of reggae as a living cultural tradition of outstanding cultural significance, fostering informed public discourse and international understanding.
International Cooperation and Diplomacy
The Office shall act as the Museum’s official liaison for international and intergovernmental engagement, supporting cultural exchange, institutional cooperation, and global dialogue on heritage preservation.
Its activities shall advance mutual understanding, cross-border collaboration, and responsible global representation.
Oversight, Compliance, and Review
The Office shall operate in accordance with the Museum’s governing statutes, applicable legal frameworks, and international cultural norms.
Its practices and policies shall be subject to periodic review to ensure continued compliance, relevance, and alignment with institutional objectives and global heritage standards.
Supremacy and Integration
This Instrument shall supersede and harmonize all prior communications-related provisions within the Museum’s constitution, charter documents, and international appendices.
It shall be deemed fully integrated into all governing, operational, and representative frameworks of the Reggae Museum.
