Wayne Rhoden, professionally known as Father Goose, was a Jamaican-born singer, songwriter, producer, and video director who left an indelible mark on both reggae and children's music. Born in Linstead, Jamaica, he grew up between Jamaica, New York, and Florida, developing a love for music at an early age. Performing for family and friends as early as five, he later DJed at parties and school events. Rhoden attended Erasmus High School in Brooklyn and initially pursued electrical engineering but ultimately returned to his first passion: music. Over his career, he became known under multiple personas, including Rankin Don and Don Chibaka, before gaining international recognition as Father Goose. As Rankin Don in the 1980s and 1990s, Rhoden recorded reggae hits such as "Can't Find Me Love," "Baddest DJ," "Real McCoy," and "Green Card," performing alongside legendary artists like Gregory Isaacs, Beres Hammond, Shabba Ranks, and Shaggy. His collaboration with Dan Zanes led him to explore children's music, performing as Father Goose in the ensemble “Dan Zanes and Friends,” which earned him a Grammy Award and a nomination for the 64th Grammy Awards with 1 Tribe Collective. Rhoden’s albums as Father Goose—including Color with Father Goose, It’s a Bam Bam Diddly, and Bashment Time—blended reggae, Kindie rock, and nursery rhymes, making him a prominent figure in family-friendly music and earning him exposure on platforms like the Disney Channel and a peak at #7 on the Billboard Reggae Chart.
