Trinity

Country: Jamaica

Trinity, born Wade Brammer (1954 – 9 April 2021), also known as Junior Brammer, was a highly influential Jamaican reggae deejay and producer whose career spanned from the mid-1970s into the 1990s. Raised in Kingston and educated at the Alpha Boys School, he began performing under the name Prince Glen before adopting the stage name Trinity, inspired by a Spaghetti Western character. He emerged from Kingston’s vibrant sound-system scene and made his recording debut in 1976 with “Set Up Yourself” for producer Joseph Hoo Kim. Trinity quickly became one of the most in-demand deejays of the late 1970s, recording extensively for leading producers including Joe Gibbs, Yabby You, Bunny Lee, Winston Riley, and Tommy Cowan. His breakthrough hit “Three Piece Suit” (1977) helped signal a shift in reggae lyricism toward early dancehall themes, and directly inspired Althea & Donna’s UK-chart-topping “Uptown Top Ranking.” During this prolific period, he released several acclaimed albums such as Shanty Town Determination, Uptown Girl, Showcase, and Three Piece Chicken and Chips, and performed at Jamaica’s historic One Love Peace Concert in 1978. By the late 1970s, Trinity expanded into production, launching his Flag Man label and collaborating with artists like Dennis Brown and Barrington Levy. As commercial success slowed in the 1980s, he transitioned from deejaying to singing, releasing albums under his birth name, Junior Brammer. Trinity passed away in 2021 at age 67 due to complications from diabetes, leaving behind a legacy as one of the key voices who bridged roots reggae and the emerging dancehall era.
