Through The Roots is an American reggae-rock and pop band from San Diego, California, known for their laid-back, feel-good sound blending reggae, rock, and pop with positive, uplifting messages. Formed in 2007 by frontman Evan Hawkins and drummer Taylor Boatwright, the band quickly built a following through energetic live shows and West Coast touring, earning a reputation for sunny “Cali-vibes” and catchy songwriting. The band gained early momentum with self-released EPs and extensive touring alongside acts like Iration, Rebelution, Pepper, and SOJA. Their debut full-length album Take You There (2013) charted on both iTunes and Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart, marking their arrival as a rising force in the modern reggae-rock scene. Subsequent releases continued to chart while expanding their sound through acoustic projects and collaborations. Signed to labels such as LAW Records and Ineffable Records, Through The Roots released acclaimed albums including Arrival (2019), Departure (2020), and TTR (2022).
