Grace Latoya Hamilton, professionally known as Spice, is a Jamaican dancehall artist, singer, and songwriter, often hailed as the "Queen of Dancehall" and one of the most influential female Jamaican musicians globally. Born on 6 August 1982 in Spanish Town, Jamaica, she spent part of her childhood in London before returning to Jamaica, where she participated in music festivals and led her church choir. Although she initially considered a career in accounting, she pursued music, studying at Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. She began performing at local stage shows in the late 1990s, gaining recognition for her dynamic stage presence.

Spice’s career breakthrough came with her 2009 single Romping Shop with Vybz Kartel, which gained international attention despite being banned in Jamaica for explicit content. She released her debut EP So Mi Like It in 2014, and her independent mixtape Captured in 2018 debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. Her debut studio album 10 (2021) earned a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album, followed by Emancipated (2022) and her third album Mirror 25 (2024), showcasing her continued relevance in the dancehall scene. She also gained wider fame as a regular cast member of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, balancing her music career with public visibility.

Beyond music, Spice has built a business and philanthropic profile, launching clothing lines (Spicey Couture and Graci Noir), a beauty store (Faces & Laces), and initiatives supporting women and education through the Grace Hamilton Women Empowerment Foundation. She has faced personal and health challenges, including a dramatic recovery after surgery in 2023, which inspired her single God A Bless Me. Spice is a mother of two and remains an influential figure in Jamaican music and culture, celebrated for her bold persona, entrepreneurial ventures, and advocacy on social issues like colorism and women’s empowerment.
