Sharon Marley (born November 23, 1964) is a Jamaican reggae singer, the biological daughter of Rita Marley and the adopted daughter of Bob Marley. She rose to international prominence as a member of Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, alongside her siblings Ziggy, Stephen, and Cedella Marley. With the group, she helped carry forward Bob Marley’s message of unity and consciousness through music, earning three Grammy Awards and global acclaim. As part of the Melody Makers from the 1980s through the late 1990s, Sharon contributed vocals to more than ten albums, including Grammy-winning projects such as Conscious Party, One Bright Day, and Fallen Is Babylon. The group scored major hits like Tomorrow People, Tumblin’ Down, and Look Who’s Dancin’. In 1989, Sharon also appeared in the film The Mighty Quinn, with her song I’m Hurting Inside featured on its soundtrack. After the group disbanded in 2002, Sharon shifted focus to cultural preservation and business, becoming involved with Ghetto Youth United, serving as curator of the Bob Marley Museum, and acting as managing director of the Total Care Learning Centre in Kingston. She returned to music with solo singles Just One More Morning (2021) and Butterflies in the Sky (2022). A mother of four, she balances her artistic life with wellness practices and continues to play an important role in sustaining the Marley legacy.
