Craig Serani Marsh, professionally known as Serani (born 7 June 1982), is a Jamaican singer and producer known for his work in reggae and dancehall. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, he co-founded the Daseca production team in 2001 with friends David and Craig Harrisingh, aiming to produce for major reggae artists in Jamaica. Serani gained early recognition by co-producing Sean Paul’s platinum album The Trinity in 2006, including the hit single We Be Burnin’, which helped the album break a Jamaican sales record. He also produced the Smash riddim, featuring Tony Matterhorn’s Dutty Wine, a song that topped charts in Jamaica and the UK. Serani and Daseca contributed to the success of artists like Mavado, Alaine Laughton, Bugle, Bounty Killer, Busy Signal, and Vybz Kartel, notably with the Anger Management riddim. Serani’s first singing success was on Mavado’s track Dying, where he performed the hook. In 2008, Serani signed a contract to record two albums with JVC Entertainment and later entered a joint venture with Phase One Communications in New York City. He is known for self-producing much of his music, including singles like Doh (featuring Bugle), No Games, and She Loves Me. His 2008 hit No Games brought him international recognition and has remained one of his signature songs. Serani has performed internationally, including a 2012 show at the Ride Club in Vienna. Serani’s influence continues through his songwriting and production. In 2020, No Games was sampled by Eminem for the song Farewell on his album Music to Be Murdered By, highlighting the lasting impact of Serani’s work in both reggae and broader music contexts.
