Country: Germany
Seeed is a German band from Berlin, founded in 1998, known for blending hip hop, reggae, and dancehall. The eleven-member group includes three singers, a horn section, and a DJ, giving their music a distinctive sound that stands out in contemporary popular music. They have collaborated with international artists such as Cee-Lo Green, Anthony B, Tanya Stephens, and General Degree, often featuring guest performers on their tracks. Seeed performs in German, English, and Patois, with some German-language songs translated into English for international releases. Their biggest hits include Dickes B, Aufstehn, Ding, and Music Monks. The band’s first hit, Dickes B, celebrated Berlin and led to the release of their debut album, New Dubby Conquerors, in 2001. Seeed won three ECHO Awards and found broader success in neighboring countries, particularly France, with international versions of Music Monks and Next!. In 2012, they released their fourth studio album, Seeed, after six years, which debuted at number one on the German Albums Chart—marking the first time a Seeed album topped the chart. During the hiatus, members Peter Fox, Dellé, and Demba Nabé (Boundzound) pursued solo projects. In 2018, Demba Nabé passed away at the age of 46. The band honored him with the release of their single Ticket in 2019 and later released their fifth studio album, Bam Bam, on 4 October 2019. Despite this loss, Seeed continues to maintain their influence in the German and international music scenes, blending energetic performances, horn-driven arrangements, and cross-genre collaborations.
