No-Maddz

Country: Jamaica

The No-Maddz is a Jamaican art collective and roots reggae dub poetry band, consisting of Sheldon “Sheppie” Shepherd and Everaldo “Evie” Creary. Both members are alumni of Kingston College and recipients of the prestigious Jamaican Prime Minister's Youth Award for Excellence in Arts and Culture. Their music blends dub poetry with multiple genres, embodying the spirit of Jamaica’s roots music, and their performances often integrate theater and visual storytelling. Formed in the early 2010s, The No-Maddz launched their signature concert series “The Trod Live” around Kingston and St. Andrew, recording one of Jamaica’s first live albums of the new millennium. They gained international attention with a Puma endorsement campaign featuring Usain Bolt, and have performed at major Jamaican festivals including Rebel Salute, Reggae Sumfest, and The National Grand Gala. They have also ventured into film, with Shepherd winning Best Actor at the American Black Film Festival for his role in Better Mus’ Come. Their theatrical production Breadfruit is the New Bread, Baby represented Jamaica at Carifesta XI in South America. In 2014, the band collaborated with producers Sly and Robbie to release their first studio album, Sly and Robbie presents No-Maddz, which received critical acclaim. Shepherd also published a poetry collection, In The Morning Yah, in 2015. In 2016, The No-Maddz released singles including “Promises,” “Unite Us,” and “Breadfruit and Banana”, and performed at Japan’s World Music Festival in Hamamatsu. Since late 2016, the group has continued as a duo, with Shepherd and Creary maintaining their unique fusion of music, poetry, and theater.
