Country: Jamaica
Lone Ranger Lone Ranger (born Anthony Alphanso Waldron, 2 November 1958) is a Jamaican reggae deejay best known for his sharp lyricism and influential recordings from the late 1970s to mid-1980s. Raised partly in Tottenham, UK, he returned to Jamaica in 1971 and began recording at Studio One under Clement “Coxsone” Dodd. After early work with Welton Irie, he broke out solo with the Jamaican hit “Love Bump” and later topped the UK reggae album chart in 1980 with Barnabas Collins. Widely regarded as one of his era’s most inventive deejays, Lone Ranger strongly influenced British deejays of the early 1980s. He moved to the United States in the mid-1980s, returning to Jamaica in 1998 to resume sound system performances.
