Lila Iké (born Alecia Tameka Grey on January 23, 1994) is a Jamaican reggae singer and songwriter known for her soulful voice and conscious, self-reflective lyrics. Raised in Christiana, Manchester, she attended Manchester High School before studying at Northern Caribbean University, later leaving the University of the West Indies to fully pursue music. Her stage name evolved from “Lila Music” to Lila Iké, inspired by the Nigerian name Ikéchukwu, meaning “power of God.” After relocating to Kingston, Lila Iké’s career gained momentum when she signed with Protoje’s In.Digg.Nation label in 2017. She built early recognition through singles such as “Biggest Fan,” “Second Chance,” “Where I’m Coming From,” and “Sweet Inspiration.” In 2019, she toured Europe, performing at major reggae festivals and opening for Protoje in the United States. Her debut EP, The ExPerience (2020), further established her as part of reggae’s new wave, earning praise from outlets like BBC Radio 1Xtra and Vice. In 2025, Lila Iké released her debut studio album Treasure Self Love, a deeply personal project centered on healing, identity, and empowerment. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Reggae category, marking a major milestone in her career. She went on to perform at the 2026 Grammy Awards, solidifying her status as one of Jamaica’s most important contemporary reggae voices.
