King Sounds Born Roy Livingstone Plummer in Saint Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica, King Sounds is a reggae singer, producer, and MC who moved to the UK in the late 1960s. He began his career as a stage MC, earning the name “King Sounds” from Alton Ellis after impressing him on the reggae circuit. He released his debut single, “Rock and Roll Lullaby,” in 1977 and later formed the Grove Music collective in Ladbroke Grove. A regular performer at Notting Hill Carnival, King Sounds has released multiple albums across his own labels, including King and the I and Viza Records, and remains a respected figure in UK roots reggae.
