Jah Warrior is a UK-based roots reggae/dub production collective, record label, sound system, and musical group, centered around Steve Mosco. Overview Steve Mosco became interested in reggae as a teenager in Manchester, attending sound system events in Moss Side and Hulme, and experiencing legendary systems like Jah Shaka. In 1981, he moved to London and hosted a reggae show on pirate radio station LWR, invited by Tim Westwood. Worked as a selector on the Humble Lion sound system, which was renamed Jah Warrior in 1987. Released Warrior Dub in 1990 under the name Zulu Warriors. Jah Warrior Record Label Founded in 1995, first release was “The 22nd Book” by Naph-Tali, followed by the album One of These Days. Since 1999, Steve Mosco has focused primarily on production. Production Work & Collaborations Produced albums for roots reggae artists including: Hughie Izachaar Tena Stelin Prince Alla Peter Broggs Trinity Dillinger Rod Taylor U Brown Alton Ellis Anthony Johnson Dennis Alcapone Horace Andy Jah Mason Dub releases as Jah Warrior, often in collaboration with Dougie Wardrop (A. Millgate). The Dub From The Heart series is considered a landmark in UK dub music (mid to late 1990s). International Reach First US release: Peter Broggs’ Jah Golden Throne Dubwise on the BSI label. Recognized as one of the leading independent roots and reggae labels in the UK.
