El General

El General (born Edgardo Armando Franco, 27 September 1969) is a Panamanian musician widely considered one of the fathers of reggae en Español, a Spanish-language variety of dancehall reggae that emerged in Panama in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Early Life
Born in Panama City, Panama, of Jamaican descent.
Began singing and composing at age 12, experimenting with makeshift instruments.
Grew up influenced by Bob Marley and Burro Banton.
Early musical experience included performing with Renato and the Four Stars, where he earned the nickname El General.
Later moved to the United States on a scholarship to study business administration, performing as an MC at parties and opening for dancehall and hip-hop acts.
Career
Started his professional music career at age 19.
Known for pioneering Spanish-language dancehall/reggae, incorporating Jamaican riddims with Spanish lyrics.
