Easy Star All-Stars is a reggae and dub collective founded in 1997 by Michael Goldwasser, Eric Smith, Lem Oppenheimer, and Remy Gerstein under the New York-based Easy Star Records. The band is renowned for creating full reggae reinterpretations of classic albums, blending dub, ska, and reggae influences. History & Major Releases Formation and Early Work (1997–2006): Originally a studio project for Easy Star Records, the band released their first album in 2003, Dub Side of the Moon, a reggae reinterpretation of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. The album has remained a staple on the Billboard Reggae Charts. In 2006, they released Radiodread, a reggae/dub cover of Radiohead's OK Computer. Thom Yorke praised their cover of "Let Down," and Jonny Greenwood called it "truly astounding." Original and Cover Material (2008–2014): Until That Day EP (2008) – Mostly original material with one Radiohead cover. Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band (2009) – A reggae take on The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, reaching the Billboard Top 200 twice. Dubber Side of the Moon (2010) – A remix album featuring various dub artists. First Light (2011) – Original album. Thrillah (2012) – A reggae reinterpretation of Michael Jackson's Thriller. Anniversary and reissues of previous cover albums followed, maintaining their signature style. Recent Work (2016–2023): Re-released Radiodread with bonus tracks in 2016. In 2023, they released Ziggy Stardub, a reggae reinterpretation of David Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, earning critical acclaim.
