Country: Austria
Christian Lahodynsky, known by his stage name Deliman, is an Austrian reggae singer-songwriter born on 10 January 1989 in Vienna’s 19th District, Döbling. Although Austrian by birth, he spent his early childhood in Belgium due to his father’s work as a journalist, returning to Austria at age six. It was after this return that Deliman discovered reggae music, influenced by his parents’ extensive record collection and artists such as Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, and Black Uhuru, which shaped his musical direction and cultural identity. Deliman’s career began at the grassroots level when he and his brother Stephan founded the Trichromatic Sound soundsystem, playing reggae and dancehall in Vienna’s club scene. He later connected with the backing band The Fireman Crew from Linz, marking the start of his live performance career. Their growing recognition led to a nomination for the Austrian Newcomer Award in 2010, followed by a major breakthrough when they won the Austrian/Swiss Reggae Contest, earning a performance slot at the renowned Rototom Sunsplash festival the same year. His professional recording career took off in 2009 with the single “King of Kings,” produced by Sam Gilly under the House of Riddim label. Deliman co-founded Union World Music with Fireman Crew drummer Paul Krackowizer, releasing his debut album Unconquerable in 2011 and the EP Still Blazing in 2014. Leveraging social media to collaborate with international producers and artists, Deliman steadily built his reputation, becoming recognized as one of Austria’s most ambitious and respected reggae artists.
