Country: Jamaica
Orville Aloysious Thomas, known professionally as Da’Ville, was born on 24 January 1976 and raised in Jamaica in a disciplined, faith-based environment shaped largely by his grandmother. Introduced to music through church, he sang in choirs and performed at school events, developing his vocal skills from an early age. After completing high school and working various jobs, he pursued music seriously, first through group efforts and later as a member of ARP (A Raw Perspective), which helped prepare him for a solo career. In 2001, Da’Ville signed with Penthouse Records under Donovan Germain and quickly gained attention with hit singles such as “Cruzin” and “All My Life,” the latter featuring Marcia Griffiths. He went on to work with many leading Jamaican producers while also establishing himself as a songwriter and producer. His self-produced single “In Heaven” became a major breakthrough, leading to the release of his debut album In Heaven (2005), which achieved strong commercial success in Japan and launched extensive international touring. Da’Ville’s momentum continued with the release of Can’t Get Over You (2006), producing multiple chart-topping singles across Jamaica, the Caribbean, the US, Europe, and Africa. He received several awards and nominations, including Stone Love’s Singer of the Year and Most Improved Entertainer at the International Reggae & World Music Awards. After later releasing Krazy Love in 2012, Da’Ville experienced a personal transformation, becoming a born-again Christian and relocating to Florida. He returned to recording with renewed purpose, announcing his first album in a decade in 2022, led by the single “Happy.”
