Chuck Fenda, born Leshorn Dalton Whitehead on June 15, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York, is a Jamaican-American reggae musician and deejay. Although born in the United States, he was raised in Jamaica, where his musical identity and social consciousness were shaped. He is widely known by nicknames such as The Living Fire, Poor People Defender, and Chuck Fender, reflecting the strong advocacy and righteous themes that run through his music. Emerging in the mid-1990s, Chuck Fenda built a reputation for socially conscious reggae that speaks to poverty, injustice, and everyday struggles. His music blends roots reggae and dancehall, often carrying messages of resilience and hope. Some of his most popular songs include “I Swear,” “Poor People Cry,” and “Better Days,” all from his album Better Days, which helped solidify his place in modern reggae. His track “All About da Weed” gained wider international exposure after being featured on the soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto IV.
