Charly B (born Charles Blanvillain in 1981) is a French singer-songwriter of French, German, and Armenian descent who specializes in reggae music and has an international career. He discovered reggae at age 15 while living in Jamaica for a year as part of a high school exchange program and composed his first reggae song during that time. He later studied sound engineering in Canada and Geneva, which, combined with his cultural experiences in Jamaica and France, shaped his artistic vision. Over the years, Charly B has collaborated with reggae and dancehall legends such as Capleton, Kiprich, De Marco, and Anthony B. Charly B’s career highlights include being voted Best DJ in Geneva (2002) and Switzerland (2005), and winning awards for his songs, including "Best Reggae Song" at the Reggae Europe competition (2009) and "Revelation of the Year" at the Victories of Reggae (2013). He has hundreds of original songs in French, English, and Jamaican patois registered with SACEM. He has also been involved in international competitions and tours, including attempts at Eurovision for Switzerland, and has released a 14-track album, Journey of Life, in collaboration with TMMG Production in Kingston, Jamaica. Between 2009 and 2015, Charly B recorded extensively at Jamaica’s Geejam Studios, working alongside notable artists and producers. During this period, he collaborated with Alborosie, Chronixx, Agent Sasco (Assassin), and others, while touring internationally in Spain, Germany, Canada, the United States, and Vietnam. He also produced several music videos for tracks such as "Ooh No" (2009), "Forever" (2010), and "Prophecies Untold" (2015), solidifying his presence on the global reggae scene.
