Reggae on the Nile

Reggae on the Nile is an annual reggae music festival held in Jinja, Uganda, along the banks of the Nile River. The event celebrates reggae music, sound-system culture, and community engagement, drawing local and regional artists, DJs, and reggae fans to experience live performances that span roots reggae, dub, dancehall, and related styles. Reggae on the Nile combines music with cultural activities and aims to promote both music and tourism in the region.

The festival features performances by bands, DJs, and selectors, often with workshop sessions, cultural showcases, and ancillary events that highlight art and tourism alongside the music. It has been described as one of the premier reggae events in Uganda, with acts from across East Africa and beyond participating in past editions. Reggae on the Nile emphasizes community, cultural heritage, and audience participation in a scenic setting near the Nile’s waters.
