Who Is Masicka?

Masicka, born Javaun Fearon in December 1991, hails from Independence City in Portmore, Saint Catherine Parish, Jamaica. Raised in a rough environment nicknamed “Sin City,” he began honing his lyrical talent at a young age. While attending Calabar High School in Kingston, he became known for dominating lyrical battles with his sharp wordplay and fast delivery, earning the nickname “The Future.”
From the beginning, Masicka stood out as an artist who could balance hardcore dancehall content with lyrical depth and storytelling. His early exposure to music and his relentless work ethic laid the foundation for a rising career that would soon captivate audiences both in Jamaica and abroad.
Early Career and Breakthrough
Masicka’s breakthrough came in 2011 with the single “Guh Haad and Done,” produced by One Motion Music. That song marked the beginning of his climb into the mainstream, gaining traction on Jamaican radio and dancehall circuits.
Over the years, he released a string of successful tracks including “Whistling Clean,” “Lose Control,” and “They Don’t Know.” A pivotal moment in his career came with the hit collaboration “Infrared” featuring dancehall legend Vybz Kartel. The song not only widened his audience but confirmed Masicka’s arrival as a major force in the genre.
Masicka also founded his own label, Genahsyde, which later evolved into 1Syde Records—helping him build an independent brand identity with strong fan loyalty.
