Cham, born Damian Beckett in Kingston, Jamaica, is a globally recognized dancehall and reggae artist celebrated for his lyrical versatility, smooth flow, and undeniable stage presence. Formerly known as Baby Cham, he rose to prominence in the early 2000s with his breakout hit “Ghetto Story”, a gripping narrative that earned international acclaim and helped catapult dancehall into the global mainstream.
Working closely with legendary producer Dave Kelly and the iconic Madhouse Records, Cham quickly established himself as a force within the genre. His debut album, Wow… The Story, released in 2000, set the tone for a career built on authenticity, lyrical depth, and infectious rhythms. His chart-topping collaboration with Alicia Keys on the remix of “Ghetto Story” remains one of the most impactful fusions of dancehall and R&B to date.
